Ing. Jan Petrof, representative of the fourth generation of the Petrof family, received a honorary doctorate in Management and the Golden Medal of the University of Hradec Králové (UHK) on 28 November 2018. The university has acknowledged his merits in the restoration of the forcibly ruptured tradition of his family business, which is today once again the largest European piano manufacturer.
“I feel truly honoured that it was me who was chosen by the scientific board of the Faculty of Informatics and Management of the University of Hradec Králové. It is an acknowledgement not only for me, but for the whole PETROF company,” said Jan Petrof.
According to the UHK, Jan Petrof participated fundamentally in the privatisation and development of the company that bears the famous name of his family and succeeded as a manager in the uneasy conditions posed by the company’s privatisation and changes on the world markets. “He is an example of a diligent, successful and upstanding entrepreneur who does credit not only to Hradec Králové, but to the whole of the Czech Republic,” said the University’s spokesman Jakub Novák.
